UCAN help make life better
First has become a "platinum" donor for this charity.
First is a major donor to UCAN. UCAN is a North of Scotland charity, working with people and families affected by urological cancers. Urological cancers (prostate, bladder, kidney and testicular) are among the most common cancers affecting families in this part of Scotland as in other areas in the UK. UCAN is working with the NHS to make this area a centre of excellence in preventing and treating urological cancers
The aims of UCAN include raising awareness of urological cancers, health promotion to reduce risks of developing the diseases, evaluating new technologies for diagnosis and treatment and ensuring optimum support and care for patients.
1 in 3 of all cancers in men are urological. Around 800 men are referred to hospital each year with a suspected diagnosis of prostate cancer. As First has such a high percentage of male employees we are dedicated to helping UCAN raise awareness of these cancers and their possible symptoms. UCAN wants to make a positive impact of the health and well-being of the people of the north of Scotland and beyond.
