| To continue to improve the punctuality and reliability of our services in the UK | The overall punctuality and reliability of our services continues to improve. |

| To improve our performance in the National Passenger Surveys in the UK Rail division | With the exception of First Great Western, all our train operating companies improved their performance in the Autumn 2006 National Passenger Survey. |
| To reduce customer complaints | Where we have comparable data customer complaints in the UK Rail division have reduced. |
| To continue to increase community volunteering in the UK Bus and UK Rail divisions | Employee volunteering hours have more than doubled this year from just over 3,000 to 6,600. |
| OUR PEOPLE | |

| TARGET | PERFORMANCE |
| To improve the driver retention rate in UK Bus and North America | In the UK Bus Division the driver turnover rate is down by 3%, in First Student it is down by 3.5%. In First Transit driver turnover continues to rise and we have recruited two specialist recruitment managers who will work to reverse this trend. |
| To increase access to workplace learning opportunities in UK Bus and UK Rail | We have opened an additional four learning centres this year. |
| To further develop the skills of our people through effective training and development and increased learning opportunities | Our learning and development programmes across the business continue to develop. The UK Bus division has developed a new graduate training programme with the Open University. Our UK Rail division has established a leadership development programme. In North America we continue to develop our leadership development programmes and increase the number of employees with ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) qualifications. |
| To improve employee satisfaction ratings where surveys take place | Where we have undertaken more than one survey, satisfaction has increased across a number of areas although there remain issues to address. These are being tackled via individual operating companies' human resource strategies. |
| To develop consistent recruitment and development processes for the UK Rail division | Last year we streamlined relationships with our recruitment suppliers to improve the consistency in our approach to recruitment processes. |
