Group Safety Performance Trends
We increased by 1% the number of locations with zero Lost Time Injury rate and zero collision rate over the last 12 months compared to the previous 12 months.
Our Category A Signals Passed at Danger rate has increased this year. This is partly due to an increase in the volume of rail traffic across the UK network, and associated increase in the number of drivers passing signals at danger. Despite the increase our train operations have remained below the industry average over the past 18 months.
We continue to improve our training and management relating to SPADs. For example, our Competency Management System (CMS) focuses on human factors that may affect performance and identifies learning needs of individuals.
Working with the University of Aberdeen our SPAD Working Group has reviewed global best practice to identify what more we can do to eliminate SPADs and share best practice effectively.
