New bus company forms under the name First in the Midlands

First Wyvern formally First Midland Red Buses Ltd have today announced that the Company will be merging with two other FirstGroup subsidiaries, First Leicester and First Northampton, to form one larger business under the umbrella of First In The Midlands, effective from the beginning of April 2002.
Mr Ken Mills, Managing Director of First Wyvern for 20 years, and Financial Director Mr Roger Hutchings will be retiring at the end of March. The new Managing Director will be Mr Ian Humphreys presently Managing Director of Leicester and Northampton.
The merger combines the two smallest Companies within Firsts bus company portfolio into one larger geographical unit and will slot into the Midlands and East Anglia Division under its Divisional Director Mr Tony Cox. Formerly First Wyvern was located in the South West and Wales Division under Mr Piers Marlow.
Ian Humphreys said "The merger brings with it significant advantages and consolidates the ability to share best practice to the companys mutual benefit'.
Other changes in the companys structure see the Head Office located to Heron Lodge in Worcester and the appointment of Mr John Wright as Engineering Director (formally Engineering Director at Wyvern) and the appointment of Mr Steve James as Financial Director (formally Statistical Officer at Wyvern)
