FirstGroup Donation To Asia Earthquake Disasters Emergency Committee Appeal

FirstGroup plc, the UKs largest surface transport operator, has pledged to donate £50,000 to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Asia earthquake appeal.
Commenting on the donation, Moir Lockhead, Chief Executive said: "Like everybody we have been moved by the images of devastation following the earthquake in Asia. Many of our staff have families and friends in the affected areas of Pakistan, the Kashmir region, India and Afghanistan so we are keen to support relief work in the region.'
Notes:
The DEC is an umbrella organisation which represents 13 leading UK aid agencies. Its members are: ActionAid, British Red Cross, CAFOD, CARE International UK, Christian Aid, Concern, Help the Aged, Islamic Relief, Merlin, Oxfam, Save the Children, Tearfund and World Vision.
