Successful bank holiday for Greyhound's new Bournemouth services
Tuesday 4 May 2010
Greyhound, the world’s most famous bus brand, enjoyed a successful start at the weekend to its new service linking Bournemouth and London.
The first ever Greyhound coach to operate in Bournemouth, Barbara Ann, departed at 0705 from Bournemouth’s seafront and arrived at London, Victoria, 17 minutes early, a journey time of just over two hours. Meanwhile the 0845 service from London to Bournemouth arrived 20 minutes early.
Alex Warner, Managing Director of Greyhound UK, spent much of the weekend meeting his new customers. He said: “I could not be more pleased with the events of the bank holiday weekend. Each of our four daily services on Saturday, Sunday and Monday were around 75% full. Considering this is our first weekend, that kind of response is way above our expectations.”
He added: “The feedback from passengers was entirely positive. One customer even mentioned to me that he had more leg room on the Greyhound than he does in his front room! Predictably customers were particularly impressed by the fares. We are selling more than 25% of our seats at £1 plus 50p booking fee during the month of May. Forward bookings are looking very healthy. We clearly have a winner on our hands in Bournemouth.
Greyhound offers unrivalled product and service quality with a large range of cheap fares starting from £1, plus 50p booking fee, on www.greyhounduk.com.
Onboard features include leather seating, free wi-fi, power sockets, air-conditioning and complimentary newspapers. Greyhound coaches have 41 seats rather than the 50 or so typically operated by other coach companies meaning 20% more leg room for customers.
Greyhound operates two direct services daily to London leaving from the Seafront (Pier Approach) at 0705 and 1805 and Bournemouth Interchange (0713 and 1813) arriving at Bulleid Way, Victoria, London. Services from London to Bournemouth operate daily at 0845 and 1730. The journey time is 2 hours, 25 minutes.
Greyhound also operates direct services between London and Southampton and London and Portsmouth.
