Saturday 13 June 2009
Maurice Duckworth, Managing Director of First Rail Support, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for his service to the Special Constabulary.
As well as his services to displaced railway passengers over many years, Maurice now holds the post of Special Inspector in Lancashire Police.
Maurice, 61, joined the force in 1970 and has dedicated the last 39 years to serving the communities of Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley. He continues to combine working for FirstGroup with operational duties policing the community.
He is one of Lancashire Constabulary's longest ever serving Special Inspectors and is well known by colleagues and partners in the area and is possibly best known for leading all of the annual town parades.
