Top award for First Rail Support MD
Monday 30 March 2009
First Rail Support (FRS) Managing Director Maurice Duckworth has picked up a top prize at this year’s prestigious UK Coach Awards.
Maurice beat off competition from hundreds of UK Coach Directors and Managers to win the ‘Unsung Hero’ award at the event held in London on Friday 27 March.
Maurice was chosen for the award because of his ‘hard-work, loyalty and devotion to duty’ as well as ‘keeping the wheels of his business turning against all the odds’.
FRS picked up another prize when the company was highly commended in the ‘Most Effective Partnership’ category. This award recognises coach firms that work in partnership with other businesses to achieve ‘a real measured difference in terms of increasing awareness of coach travel and coach patronage’.
The awards for FRS come after the recent news that the company has won an important tender to supply rail support services to Virgin Trains for the next three years. The multi-million pound contract sees FRS adding Virgin Trains to its already impressive business portfolio, which includes First Great Western, First ScotRail and Northern Rail.
Nicola Shaw, Managing Director Bus – UK, Ireland and Germany, said: “First Rail Support goes from strength to strength and the awards to Maurice and his team are well deserved.
“The winning of the Virgin Trains rail replacement contract for the next three years adds another important rail business to an already impressive list of companies that FRS serves.”
