Success for FirstGroup at Scottish Transport Awards

Sir Moir Lockhead, Chief Executive of FirstGroup, was last week recognised for his ‘Outstanding Contribution to Transport Across Scotland’ at the Scottish Transport Awards in Glasgow.


Sir Moir Lockhead’s award capped a very successful evening for FirstGroup at the Scottish transport ‘Oscars’. 


First ScotRail won the ‘Public Transport Operator of the Year’ for the third year in a row in recognition of record levels of performance and reliability and customer satisfaction figures. In addition, delays caused by First ScotRail have fallen by 15% over the past year and are down 50% since the franchise began.


First ScotRail employee, Helen Jarvis, Station Team Manager at Haymarket, picked up the ‘Transport Employee of the Year Award’. 


Also recognised at the awards was First’s bus operations in Glasgow which received the Best Bus Service title for its X85/X87 city express between Kirkintilloch/Lenzie and Glasgow city centre.


Commenting Sir Moir said: “I am delighted that FirstGroup has done so well yet again at the Scottish Transport Awards.  I am particularly pleased that First ScotRail continues to set benchmarks for others to follow and it is wonderful to note that First in Glasgow’s tremendous efforts to shift people from car to bus has been recognised.


“I would like to pay tribute to our 9,500 staff in Scotland whose commitment to delivering safe, reliable and sustainable transport services has led to First receiving these accolades."
