First Student President Linda Bell Named to National School Transportation Association Board of Directors

The National School Transportation Association (NSTA) recently appointed First Student President Linda Bell to its board of directors. Founded in 1964, the NSTA is the only national organization that represents the interests and concerns of private school transportation contractors. Through this position, Bell will assist the NSTA in finding opportunities and solutions to provide school transportation professionals with tools and resources needed for school bus safety, affordability and efficiency nationwide.

 “I am excited about this opportunity as it gives me a chance to represent our business alongside a cross section of other leaders in the school bus market,” Bell said. “I am confident in the mission of the organization and look forward to sharing my ideas and experiences with my fellow board members.”

Bell joined FirstGroup America in January 2008, bringing with her 12 years of experience in the transportation industry in both the U.K. and the U.S. She is
president of First Student, the largest student transportation provider in the world.
She previously held the position of president of First Transit and First Services, two divisions of FirstGroup America. Prior to joining First Group, Bell most recently served as CFO of Virgin Rail Group in the U.K. and for five years prior to that she served as CFO for Coach USA based in Houston, Texas. She currently serves as a board member of the European-American Chamber of Commerce founded in January 2007 to stimulate business and networking relations between Europe and the Cincinnati region.
