First ScotRail MD visits Dundee Station to see investment enhancements

Today (Tuesday 21 October), First ScotRail’s managing director, Mary Grant, visited Dundee Station to see the enhancements which have been introduced following ongoing investment by the train operator.
The improvements include CCTV cameras and improved lighting, increasing the overall feeling of safety and security when travelling.
Additional cycle storage has also been provided, underpinning the train operator’s aim to encourage more people to cycle to and from the station.
Customers will also benefit from the introduction of timetable enhancements from December 15 – including a half hourly service between Dundee and Aberdeen and a new hourly service between Dundee and Edinburgh.
Today’s visit coincides with a week long tour of more than 40 stations and depots across the network to mark the fourth anniversary of the franchise.
First ScotRail has continued to make strong progress over the past 12 months. Highlights include:
• Record levels of overall customer satisfaction – at 88%, eight percentage points higher than the national average among UK train operators.
• Continued strong performance – with delays caused by First ScotRail cut by 50%
• Passenger growth – up 4% year on year and 20% in four years
• Winning the ‘UK Passenger Operator of the Year’ title at the prestigious National Rail Awards last month
Mary Grant, managing director of First ScotRail said; “It has been an exceptionally successful 12 months and there is much for us to be proud of. As we look ahead, we will continue to focus on delivering even further improvements and enhancements, with more trains, more capacity and more journey opportunities for communities across Scotland.”
The tour, which has been an annual event since awarded the franchise on 17 October 2004, is an opportunity to discuss plans for the future and recent achievements as well as to recognise individuals and teams for their efforts in helping take the company forward.
