Personal Safety tips from grampian Police

  • Make sure you plan your night out and be aware of the bus times so you can get home safely.
  • Don't leave your friends when you are out on the town, stay together. Particularly don't leave drunk mates alone.
  • Make sure you look after your personal property, your drink, your friends and avoid all the known trouble spots.
  • If you decide to leave early, let your friends know so they don't worry about you.
  • Make sure your mobile phone is fully charged. So that if you need to use it, you can.
  • If you do happen to find yourself alone, stick to well lit, busy streets and avoid taking shortcuts through dark areas.
  • When you get off the bus, keep to well lit, busy streets and walk facing the traffic so a car cannot pull up behind you unnoticed.
  • Carry your bag close to you with the clasp or fastening facing inwards and carry your house keys in your pocket.
  • Have your house keys ready before you reach your front door.
  • If you are threatened, scream, shout and set off a personal attack alarm, if you have one. Get away as quickly as you can.

Drinking and Driving: Don't Risk It

Drink driving changes lives, not only yours! If caught, you face a fine, an automatic driving ban of at least 12 months and a criminal record for at least 20 years - but it doesn't stop there. Think how losing your licence will affect:

  • Your job
  • Your friends
  • Your family
  • Your home
  • YOU

It's not worth it, so don't risk it.

Grampian Police know where and when drink driving is most likely to happen and they are watching 24/7. Enjoy your night out. Enjoy a drink. But THINK about how you'll get home - use the bus. Grampian Police can be contacted on 0845 600 5700.
