Route 58 on Sundays for a limited period only!
Good news for residents of Iver and Iver Heath! Thanks to a partnership between Iver Parish Council and bus operator First, route 58 (Slough - Uxbridge) will be operating on Sundays from 21st November to 30th January (excluding 26th December). This will be the only public transport available on this day of the week, as trains do not call at Iver on Sundays.
First operates route 58 on Mondays to Saturdays (excluding Bank Holidays) without any financial support. In 2010 the company experimented with a special service on Good Friday, and this will be repeated again in 2011. "First is very pleased to be working with Iver Parish Council", said Matthew Wooll, Revenue & Marketing Manager for First in Berkshire. "The lack of a Sunday service on the 58 is something we have been keen to rectify. We are therefore very grateful to Iver Parish Council and Bucks County Council for providing financial support to help make this a success and hope that there is a way of providing a Sunday service after January 2011".
The Clerk to Iver Parish Council said that "a Sunday and Bank Holiday bus service is something that residents of Iver have been asking for since I came into post nearly 13 years ago and so it is lovely that on the eve of my retirement the Parish Council has managed to secure this pilot scheme. I have been trying to get further sponsorship funding from local companies to keep this running throughout 2011 but so far without success. So if any company would like to put something towards keeping this Sunday service running for a longer trial then please contact the Clerk at Iver Parish Council."
Thanks to the work of County Councillor Ruth Vigor-Hedderly, Bucks County Council has match funded the contribution from Iver Parish Council in order to get this trial off the ground. Val Letheren (Cabinet Member for Transport) is delighted that we are locality working and that we urge sponsorship with other private bodies in and around our community.
