Standard Fares
Customers are required to be in possession of a valid ticket or permit for the entire journey. If you purchase a ticket from the driver always ensure you take the ticket issued to you and retain it for the whole journey, this is a legal requirement for all passengers.
Young people aged 11 years and over are required to pay full adult fare for each journey taken. Half fare can be obtained but only on production of a half fare permit. Travelling at half fare without the required permit will result in a penalty fare being issued.
If you have a prepaid permit then please show this to the driver on boarding the bus. It is an offence to change any of the details on the permit, use the permit before the start date or after it has expired and doing so will lead to a fine (failure to pay the fine may lead to criminal prosecution).
First employs a team of Revenue Protection Officers who constantly patrol the whole network. Customers must be able to produce a valid ticket or permit on request by a company official, failure to do so will result in a fine being issued.
The Standard Fare (Fine) currently stands at £50 (payable within 14 days) and will be issued for the following offences:
- Unable to produce a valid ticket or permit on request
- Travelling to a point beyond that paid for
- Misusing pre-paid tickets
- Using forged tickets or permits
- Changing any information on a permit or ticket
- Travelling at discounted fares without the required permit
- Any other breach of the conditions of travel at the company's discretion (ie anti social behaviour, vandalism etc)
