Summer open top & vintage routes

See the sites this summer on our West Cornwall Explorers from 24 May – 31 August inclusive.

  • Service 1: Penzance – Newlyn – St Buryan – Sennen Cove – Land's End
  • Service 1A: Penzance – Newyln – St Buryan – Porthcurno – Land's End
  • Service 17B: Penzance – Marazion – St Ives Holiday Village – St Ives (from 1 June – 31 August)
  • Service 300: St Ives – Geevor Tim Mine – Sennen Cove – Lands End

Services 1/1A and 17B will mostly be run using our fleet of open top double deckers for amazing views of the stunning West Cornwall coast and landscape. Service 300 will run with a vintage double decker.

So whether you choose to go open top or vintage (or both!) you can get around West Cornwall and to the numerous attractions and landmarks with us. And better still when you show your First bus ticket or pass you can save 10% on entry to all these attractions:

Geevor Tin Mine Museum (service 300)

Along the rugged and beautiful north coast is Geevor Tin Mine. One of the largest preserved mine sites in the country, Geevor's outstanding collections and listed buildings tell the story of Cornwall's industrial mining past and the people that lived there.

Telegraph Museum Porthcurno (service 1A)

Re-opening mid-June 2014 with major new exhibitions, new experiences, and new café. Explore fascinating exhibitions through sight, sound, touch and even smell! Live demonstrations and family activities take place every day. Step back in time in the secret WW2 tunnels, and enjoy a delicious bite to eat in the new café.

Land's End (Service 1/1A and 300)

A dramatic and stunning cliff top setting for mainland Britain's most westerly point, Land's End is home to numerous attractions and fun – for kids and grown-ups too! And of course you'll most definitely want to visit the famous 'signpost' (and maybe have your photo taken next to it?)!

Tate St Ives & Barbara Hepworth Museum (Service 17B and 300)

Visit the iconic Tate St Ives, situated in a stunning location a stone's throw away from Porthmeor beach, and celebrating its 21st birthday this summer. Or explore the magical Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, a hidden oasis in the very centre of bustling St Ives.

Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange, Penzance (Service 1/1A)

With two venues it offers a wide and varied programme across two sites, showcasing the very best of national and international contemporary art, as well as work by some of the best artists currently working in the region.

St Michael's Mount (Service 17B)

St Michael's Mount is truly unique; a tiny, rocky island filled with astonishing history and natural beauty, yet still a living, working community of people. The castle lies 200 yards off the Marazion shore and at low tide can be reached by walking across the causeway (at high tide boats can ferry visitors to and from the island).

Minack Theatre, Porthcurno (Service 1A)

This unique historical open air theatre with subtropical gardens has a stunning ocean back drop. Visit during the day or attend a performance in the evening. From Shakespeare to Roald Dahl and pop to the proms there's something for every taste.

Leach Pottery, St Ives (Service 17B and 300)

Founded in 1920, Leach Pottery is among the most respected and influential studio potteries in the world. It has two museum exhibition areas - the Entrance Gallery and the Cube. Visitors can also tour the original historic pottery workshop.

The Wayside Museum & Trewey Watermill, Zennor (Service 300)

An evocative collection of artefacts from 3000BC to the 1950s, set within the garden of a 16th century Miller's cottage. A 'magical' Cornish treasure trove detailing the lives of people who have lived and worked in and around the ancient and beautiful landscape of Zennor.
