Pink is the new Purple!

Suffolk County Council Passenger Transport Unit and First Eastern Counties Buses today (14 Jan 2009) launched the new Park & Ride buses in the Cornhill, Ipswich.

The brand new, bright pink buses, replace the previous purple vehicles as part of the new Park & Ride service being operated by First.

Councillor Guy McGregor, portfolio holder for roads and transport explained, "When we retendered the contract to operate the park & ride service, we took the opportunity to include the supply of new vehicles in the contract. It also gave us the chance to freshen up the look of the service, but as the purple buses were so familiar to passengers, we needed something equally visible to attract attention. The distinctive pink colour should ensure people dont miss the bus. "

Alan Pilbeam, Managing Director of First added, "Park & Ride is a flagship service so the comfort of our passengers is important. Passengers that use the park & ride service are very loyal and appreciate the speed and convenience and we were keen to offer them something new and vibrant to launch our new vehicles. Hopefully, as well as being easy to spot, the new buses will brighten up journeys in and out of the town.'
