Save Money with Bus Salary Sacrifice Scheme

NEW GOVERNMENT INITIATIVE MEANS SAVINGS OF UP TO 41% ON AN ANNUAL FIRST BUS TRAVEL PASS

An exciting new government initiative to encourage more and more people to use the bus means that regular bus travellers can now save up to 41% on the cost of their annual bus travel pass through the Bus Salary Sacrifice Scheme.
First East England is encouraging employers in the eastern counties to make contact so that as many people as possible can take advantage of this innovative new scheme.
The Bus Salary Sacrifice Scheme is simple to set up for both the employer and employee, with the cost of the annual bus pass being deducted from the employees monthly salary " saving the employee both tax and national insurance on that amount (between 31% and 41%) " and the employer will typically save 12.8% on national insurance contributions.
Salary sacrifice schemes are already popular for the provision of childcare vouchers and bicycles, and the new scheme for buses gives employees the opportunity to enjoy a substantial discount on the cost of an annual travel pass, saves money for the employer through lower NI contributions and encourages greater use of the bus.
Says Alan Pilbeam, Managing Director of First East England:
" This new initiative provides a huge incentive to use the bus. With the Bus Salary Sacrifice Scheme both employers and employees can make substantial savings, and with an extensive network of services throughout the region First is committed to encouraging employers to take up the scheme.'
