At the heart of the park is Delapre Abbey, built on the site of a 12th century convent. The Abbey became a private house in 1538 until the end of the second world war when it was bought by the local authority.

This is the site of an Iron Age Hill Fort and Northampton Ironstone Railway Museum. An Ironstone quarry was in use here in the 1930’s.
