The South of Essex is conveniently placed near rail links into London. The Basildon district celebrated its 60th birthday in 2009. You will definitely receive a friendly atmosphere from the locals and be spoilt for choice by the many attractions on offer at Basildon's Leisure Park. Southend-on-Sea is a must see especially if you love sun, sea and lots of ice cream! This popular tourism spot features the world's longest pleasure pier measuring 1.33 miles. Need some Retail Therapy, make your way down to the indoor shopping complex Lakeside in Thurrock, Grays. Shopping could never seem so therapeutic offering you over 250 shops under one roof.

Another park full of not just woodland but also 120 acres of ponds, coastal marshland and much more to leave you feeling refreshed by the nature reserves. This Country park situated in Basildon is home to the only Motor Museum in the world. Established in 1987 by the district council, the museum is home to many famous motorboats and has over 30 motorboats on display dating from 1873 including; Fairey Huntress used in the filming of From Russia With Love and Miss Britain IV to name a few. The many collections on sight will leave you with an education lesson in motorboats something, which you probably did not expect to meet in the park. There is something for everyone to enjoy at the park including an Adventure Play Area, miniature railway, cafe and retail craft units.

Services Bus service 2 and 22 operate every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday from Canvey Island. Bus service 5 and 8 operate every 10 minutes Monday to Saturday from Basildon. There is a reduced Sunday service on all the services please check the timetable section of the website for more details.

Passengers are advised there is a short walk from the bus stop to the park.

Want to shop and love bargains whatever the weather, head down to the Lakeside Shopping Centre offering you over 250 shops indoors and is one of the largest shopping centres in the UK. Lakeside caters for all gift ideas from Menswear, Financial services, homewares, to toys, arts and crafts. The centre has not just retail therapy on offer but also 12 restaurants and a Vue Cinema situated on the Boardwalk along the lake. The centre also provides lots of entertainment and fun too, with famous faces visiting for book signings including Katie Price and Fern Britton, Sir Cliff Richard and Geri Halliwell. It is also the home where Britain's got talent 2009 winners Diversity originated from. The centre is open Monday to Sunday at convenient hours. You will be left with a great day out fun packed with lots to experience.

Take a step back in time with a trip to Southend-on-Sea and intake the fresh breeze of the British blue sea. A place for entertainment for the whole family, with many attractions on offer, a little something to offer everyone. The Sea Life Adventure and the Adventure Island is packed full of fun with many dare-devil rides to pick from and a chance to get up close and personal with the underwater species. Whilst taking pleasure on the beach, Southend-on-Sea boasts two major shopping centres just off the high street. The Royals and The Victoria Plaza are great places to meet up with family and friends to eat and drink or go shopping. The main local attraction is Southend Pleasure Pier measuring a staggering 1.33 miles long. The pier was established in 1830 and has gone through many changes over the years due to fires, two world wars and boat crashes. Now in its era it possesses a Museum and amusements at the shore end of the Pier and RNLI Lifeboat Station and Gift Shop at the Pier Head. Visiting this part of South Essex will leave wanting to experience more and more.
