Transforming Travel

Glasgow prides itself on its high standards and continually tries to improve on these. As a company we invest heavily in staff training with the aim of providing the highest standards of service excellence possible.

Staff training is a continuous process and applied equally to staff in all sections of our company. We believe that it is as important for our support staff to be as aware of the customers needs as our drivers and sales staff who are coming into regular contact with these customers.

The true measure of our excellent partnership with our staff is the low turnover rates and long service awards with many at 25, 35 and 40 years service. Annual safe driving awards are also held and include drivers with over 25 and 30 years unblemished records.

Our commitment to these high standards and to our staff resulted in our company receiving Investors in People accreditation in 1995 - the first bus company in Scotland to do so. First Aberdeen has also been presented with a special award for 10 years of IIP accreditation.

In addition to this we were the first major bus company in Britain to receive the ISO 9002 accreditation.

As a leader in the industry, it is perhaps not too surprising that we have picked up quite a few awards along the way. We were previous winners of the Bus Operator of the Year and more recently we were voted Public Transport Operator of the Year at the Scottish Transport Awards. We also clinched the Innovation Award at the 2005 UK Bus Awards for our working with young people project and most recently won the UK Bus Award for Volvo Bus Successful Partnership Award with Glasgow City Council for the 'Streamline' initiative.

You can therefore see that when you are travelling with First, you have the comfort and reassurance that you are travelling with the best.
