Service First
In 1999 we launched the Overground - the biggest breakthrough in bus travel Glasgow has ever seen, taking the simplicity of travelling underground and creating the Overground, so that passengers should never have to wait more than 10 minutes during daytime for a bus. The Overground is a simple network with many interchange points allowing passengers to connect with other First services and access the entire city and beyond.
In the years since its launch we have continued to operate the Overground system, and developed our routes to meet changing passenger demand and needs. In the last few years we have also run a number of the Overground routes on high-frequency weekend night services that run up to every 15 minutes in the early hours of the morning on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, giving people the opportunity to get home quickly and safely from the town centre after a night out.
Furthermore, since 2005 we have been involved in partnership with the City Council and Scottish Executive on the Streamline program- an initiative that we hope will take our bus services to a new level of quality and efficiency. The focus is on making improvements to the entire system of these specific 'Streamline' routes, with investment not only in the physical bus fleet, but also in technology and equipment that will make their running more efficient and effective.
