Message from the Managing Director

I would like to welcome you to the First in London website. It contains information for anyone with an interest in our Services. Whether you are a passenger, are interested in joining FirstGroup or you are a bus enthusiast; there will be something for you.

First in London operates buses in the Capital under contract to Transport for London (TfL). We operate from nine depots across London from Uxbridge in the West to Dagenham in the East.

Our aim to run safe, innovative, reliable and sustainable bus services.

We really believe in this aim and know that our staff are the key component in making this possible. It is for this reason that I am proud their achievements have been formally recognised by their industry peers (see Awards page).

2010 was an exciting year for us with the introduction of over 120 new buses. The most advanced of these vehicles were the cutting edge technology of 5 hydrogen fuel powered vehicles funded by Transport for London. This exciting project saw the vehicles introduced on route RV1 at the end of 2010. These vehicles differ from the previous fuel cell buses operated on route RV1 by having a hybrid driveline. These fuel efficient and environmentally sound vehicles have helped reduce our carbon footprint and improve emission levels for the people of London.

We look forward to support the planning for the 2012 Olympic Games. This has already started in earnest and we want to help make the Games a success and to keep the arteries of the Capital moving for other Londoners and visitors to this great City.
