South Manchester bus services
Different buses, same familiar routes
You'll see that your regular service is now operated using First buses. The vehicles will look different but the routes and times are still the same.
Just make sure you check the route number on the front of the bus to make sure catching your usual service is easy.
NEW South Manchester tickets
Now our new buses have arrived, so have the new South Manchester First tickets.
These new tickets may have a different name than you're used to, but the price is still the same and they are valid on all our services South of Manchester, including service 18 between Manchester Royal Infirmary and the city centre but they are not valid on services North of Manchester.
- South Manchester Adult Day Ticket £3.40 (valid for travel in Zones A and B)
- Zone A Adult Week Ticket £7.50
- Zone B Adult Week Ticket £10.50
Child tickets are available at half the adult rate; the usual requirement to show an IGO card applies for 11-16 year olds.
South Manchester Ticket Zones
These tickets are all available from your driver and are in addition to our existing Greater Manchester tickets. So wherever your journey takes you, we've got it covered.
Smart Card changes
From the morning of Sunday 9 March, Smart Cards will no longer be valid for travel.
This is because we're returning Finglands buses to their parent company but don't worry, you can still buy single and return tickets with cash and from Friday 7 March we can provide refunds for any credit you have left.
To get your refund, call in and see us between 9am and 4.30pm, Mondays to Fridays, at First Manchester Ltd, Rusholme Depot, 261 Wilmslow Road, Rusholme, Manchester, M14 5LJ

First Child Week Ticket
From Sunday 9 March customers aged 5 to 16 can buy a week of travel for £6.70 from the driver.
11-16 year olds need to show an IGO card to buy and use this ticket.
This new ticket cuts the cost of travel in half and is valid on all our services across Greater Manchester except those provided on behalf of TfGM: 724, 729, 742, 745, 753, 766, 771 and 795.

No changes have been made to the times or routes, just different coloured buses, so please keep an eye out for the route number of the bus you want.
Service 16 Altrincham – Manchester
Buses run Monday to Saturday evenings and throughout the day on Sundays.
Service 41 Altrincham / Sale – Manchester
Buses run up to every 10 minutes during the day, seven days a week, hourly during the evening.
Service 42 East Didsbury – Manchester
Buses run up to every 5 minutes during the day on Mondays to Saturdays.
Service 99 Sale – Manchester
Buses run hourly for most of the day on Mondays to Saturdays.
Service 157 Woodford - Manchester
Buses run hourly during the evening on Mondays to Saturdays.
Buses on school services 141, 145, 146, 147, 148, 158, 241, 724, 729, 742, 745, 753, 766, 771 and 795 will run as normal; no changes will be made to timetables or routes.
