Fleet List

We operate a fleet of modern, safe and accessible buses across Southern Hampshire, from Totton in the West, to Havant in the East. We are working hard to ensure that all buses are super low floor, with much of the fleet now to this standard.

Here is a summary of some of the main vehicle types in the fleet.

Double Deck Fleet

Volvo B7TL Wright Gemini

Five vehicles were bought specifically for Southampton City Services in 2007. These buses and the subsequent B9TL version have become the mainstay of FirstGroup double deck bus deliveries over the past 5 years.

Volvo B7TL Alexander

Fifteen of these double deck buses were delivered new to Southampton in 2000, and were bought to upgrade Services 17/17A, with all buses remaining on these services until the recent conversion to Volvo B7RLE operation. A further ten examples with tinted windows have been extensively refurbished inside and out and have joined the Empress Road fleet after eight years in London.

Volvo Olympian

Catch them while you can! These popular step entrance double deckers can be found on some services at both Empress Road and Hoeford depots, but are largely used on School contracts across Hampshire.

Single Deck Fleet

Volvo B7RLE

A common sight across most First fleets. This popular single deck bus is the regular choice on Service 17/17A between Southampton City Centre and Lordshill with ten of the type operated. Chassis and engines by Volvo and bodywork by the Wright Group. A further 22 examples were bought new in 2009 to upgrade Portsmouth Services 40 and 41, with dedicated route branding applied to both services.

Scania OmniCity

Bought new in 2005 for Services 40 & 41, these buses have now moved to Hoeford depot and operate a variety of Portsmouth City Services.

Volvo B10BLE

With examples at both Empress Road and Hoeford depots. This popular type of full size low floor single deck bus has been the mainstay of many services in Hampshire since the late 1990s.

Alexander Dennis Enviro Dart

Four of these impressive looking buses were bought to upgrade Southampton - Hamble service 16 in 2008. All four buses are specially branded for the service.

Dennis Dart

Britain's best selling bus in the late 1990's is represented by super low floor buses allocated to all three depots in Hampshire. Some of these have even operated in Hong Kong!

Optare Solo

The new generation of midibus is represented with examples at all three depots in Hampshire, including a yellow version, which is used on the 'Cango' service in Lymington.

BMC 1100FE School bus

It all started with 2 buses in 2005!, with the fleet now growing to nearly fifteen of these popular and extremely reliable school buses. Look out for their dedicated Yellow livery!
