...catch a First service near you

Many of our services pass near the universities in Southampton and Portsmouth. Here's a list that you might find useful, although we have many other services in the surrounding area. Pick up one of our timetables, or search on our website by clicking here.

Our services can help bring you to clubs and pubs all over Southampton and Portsmouth, as well as both stadiums for matches and concerts and many, many other music venues and great places to visit for a day (or night) out!

Hampshire and Dorset: Universities

Solent University / Solent Halls of Residence students

Many of our services depart from Pound Tree Road / Vincent's Walk throughout the day and evening.

Walking distance from Pound Tree Road / Vincent's Walk.

  • Solent University (New Road) = Less than 5 minutes' walk
  • Kimber + DM Annex = 2 minutes' walk
  • Deanery and Chantry student halls = Less than 10 minutes' walk
  • Hamwick student halls = 5 minutes' walk

N.O.C and Lucia Foster Welch students

Loads of buses go via Queens Terrace every hour, less than 5 minutes' walk from Lucia Foster Welch and 10 minutes from the N.O.C. You can catch a bus to the city centre, Thornhill, Sholing, Woolston, Bitterne or even Gosport and Fareham (yes, they'll also take you to the shops.)

Solent University

The 11,12 and 9/9A go directly by the University on New Road, connecting you to the city centre, Bitterne, Harefield, Sholing and Thornhill.

Southampton University (Burgess Road) and Halls

The 7/7A services are particularly useful to students attending the main campus. The 7/7A runs beween Archers Road halls and Burgess Road (next to the main campus).

Archers Road students also benefit from the number 5 service, which connects you to the city centre, central station and general hospital.

Portsmouth University

Portsmouth University students will be happy to know that we connect the University the city and surrounding areas, including the Hard Interchange (where you can catch trains, other buses and even boats like the Gosport Ferry) with frequent buses throughout the day.

Pick up one of our timetables or return to the homepage to view details for the 13/14 service which stops outside the Furze Lane Halls of Residence, or any of these services which run past the University main campus: Service 1C, 3, 15, 19, 40 and X40. Main other services stop nearby in Commercial Road South, a few minutes walk away from the main city centre campus.

Hampshire and Dorset: Colleges

Southdown's College

You can catch the 40C to Cosham and the city centre, or our X42 express service to Waterlooville, City Centre and the Hard Interchange (where you can link up with services to the rest of the city and the Gosport Ferry).

Fareham College

The number 31, 34, 35, 57 and 80 services all stop right outside the college and can take you to Fareham bus station, Gosport, Stubbington, Portchester, Lee-on-the-Solent, Warsash, Locks Heath or Southampton and all the stops in-between.

Bay House (6th form college)

Regular buses run past Bay House School throughout the day (so you'll have to find a better excuse if you're late!) The 34, 72 and 88 services will pick you up from Fareham bus station, Gosport, Stubbington, Locks Heath Rowner and many other areas.

Taunton's College

The number 4 pass by Taunton's College at least twice an hour, bringing you to and from Southampton City, Lords Hill, Shirley and Millbrook and all the areas in-between.

The number 5 and 21 service also passes close-by for another two buses per hour between Lords Hill and Southampton City Centre.

Itchen College

The number 8 service stops right outside the college for buses between Midanbury, Townhill Park, Bitterne, Woolston, city centre, Shirley and Lords Hill.

The number 11/12 stops nearby on Bursledon road, if you want to travel between Sholing, Bitterne and Northam.

If that wasn't enough, the 10/10A stops just 5 minutes walk from the college at North East Road for travel between Thornhill, Sholing and Woolston.

Southampton City College

Southampton City College is just a few minutes walk from the bus stops at Pound Tree Road and Vincent's Walk, where you can catch First buses to stops all over the city and surrounding areas.

The number 8A and 16 services serve the college directly, the 16 calling at the college on some peak time journeys only.

St Vincent's College

The 72 service extends to the college daily with a journey in the morning from Warsash, Locks Heath, Lee-on-the-solent and Gosport retuning in the afternoon.

Or, you can catch the number 83 direct from outside the front door of the college on Forton Road running three times an hour in each direction to Gosport and Fareham via Elson and the A32. The 87 and 87A runs twice an hour past the college on Forton Road to Gosport, Elson, Rowner, Cherque Farm, Lee-on-the-solent and Stubbington.
