FirstGroup relaunches website
Tuesday 10 April 2001
FirstGroup plc, the UK's leading passenger transport operator has today relaunched its website www.firstgroup.com. The Group has worked closely with Internet developers to redesign the site so that it provides more direct access to key information on the company and its subsidiaries.
New and easy to use features have been developed. Real time share price information is now available on the site's home page. A dedicated environmental section has been created to keep customers up to date with environmental policies and achievements. A kid's fun page is available for the Group's younger customers.
Customers will be able to buy season tickets for bus and rail using the on line travel section. The relaunch of the site is yet another example of FirstGroup's commitment to using technology to make public transport easier to use and understand.
Lynne Finlayson, marketing executive said:
"The site has evolved over the past 12 months and was in need of a fresher look. The new design takes on greater use of images which are content relevant giving increased colour and variety to an information based site. The new features added to the redesign gives the visitor more direct access to key information on FirstGroup and its operating companies. Increasingly, Britain is going online and having the visibility of a well designed and easily navigated website helps us deliver a better service to the customer".
Other new features are:
Direct links to FirstGroup company sites
Current Group Initiatives
Bus/rail/air transport links
An email facility to give the user the opportunity to give feedback on the site.
Other Group initiatives include the development of smartcard ticketing "FirstCard" with a dedicated website www.first-card.co.uk and real time information on buses. The Group has recently introduced the online purchase facilities for Bus and Rail season tickets and is also developing an integrated online travel planning and booking service totaljourney.com in partnership with Railtrack Travel Ltd to be launched this spring.
