First operates the first bus simulator in the UK at our Willesden Junction depot. This was jointly funded between Transport for London and First.

Partnerships

Our local transport authority is in effect Transport for London (TfL) and, as we are a contracted operator, everything we do is designed to serve their policies and guidelines. In addition there are many projects, such as the Bus Driving Simulator or the Fuel Cell (see below) where we are formal partners. Between 2003 and 2006, in conjunction with TfL and other organisations, we operated three buses which were the UK's first hydrogen fuel cell zero-emission buses. This was part of a pioneering European project to reduce air pollution and noise. The buses only emitted pure water vapour. First will be Transport for London’s partner in a new project from 2010 to operate the first of the next generation of hydrogen fuelled buses.
