First donate £5,500 to Rochdale Cycling Club
First are proud to help the local community and recently donated £5,500 to Rochdale Cycling Club, which caters for underprivileged and disabled children, so they could purchase a three-seat, multiple use tricycle designed to accommodate disabled riders and passengers.
Louis Blank, chairman and founder of Rochdale Cycling Club, said: "The children enjoy getting out and about on the bikes so much and not only does it give them a chance to see new places, it also helps improve their fitness. Many of these children dont have access to their own bikes or are unable to ride an ordinary bike due to a disability. With our wide range of bikes we try to accommodate all children no matter what their difficulty. We couldnt do what we do without other peoples help and donations and we are grateful to First for enabling us to help more children.'
More than 20 people attend the club each Saturday morning including children and parents, and enjoy cycle rides all over the local countryside.
Claire Johnson, Commercial Manager, for First, said: "This club provides a lot of enjoyment for local children and we are pleased to be able to show our support by funding vital equipment. Firsts Charity and Sponsorship Committee continually looks at ways to support local charitable causes like Rochdale Cycling Club where we can make a difference to the communities in which we operate.'
