Punctuality Improvement Partnerships


First in Manchester believe that its Punctuality Improvement Partnerships are models, which others can follow. Currently we are working to raise the process up a level through the use of 'rugged PCs' to collect punctuality data out on the street and allow the information to be easily converted into route by route reports. Improved information from this source will allow more effective application of our supervisory resources to 'manage gaps' in our services as they develop. Route Marketing


Route Marketing is based on the concept that most bus users have one or two particular routes they use regularly. Therefore, we ensure that regular & potential bus users have the best possible information about their route which encourages them to use the bus rather than the car. Everything is fully researched with Customer Opinion Groups.

Routes that have been fully marketed are showing increased patronage and there has been a high level of positive customer feedback.

Training, Learning & Development


We are committed to providing Life Long Learning opportunities for all our staff and work closely with Unite in this area.

We also have an extensive programme of NVQ training courses to develop our future supervisors, managers & directors.

Over £1 million is spent on staff training each year.
