And the winner is... First in Aberdeen, who beat off competition to win the ‘Award for Innovation’ at the 2005 annual UK Bus Awards – sometimes known as the bus ‘Oscars’ – held at London’s Hilton Hotel.

The award recognised First in Aberdeen’s long term project aimed at changing young people’s attitudes towards bus travel, which has ultimately made bus travel a safer, more pleasant experience for all passengers. Working closely with children by involving schools, teachers and the police, the project has a number of elements, all noted within this section of the website.

“After seven years of commitment, this is an initiative that is making a difference and the proof was in the number of positive testimonials we received from people in the community who have benefited from this scheme.
