First - UK Wide
First are the UK's largest bus operator and now also a major rail operator. We have a turnover of more than £2.3 billion a year and run services in more than 40 towns and cities across the UK. We want to transform the way people travel and the way they feel about public transport. Every day our buses take nearly 3 million people to where they need to be. First are already a recognised Age Positive "Champion" and 40% of our staff, throughout the UK, who meet, deal, and work with our customers are over 50 years of age.
Our customers tell us they want frequent, reliable services, which offer value for money and on comfortable buses. It is only by meeting these aspirations that we will persuade more people out of their cars and achieve our objective of Transforming Travel. There is a big job to be done and we need you to help us.

A day in the life of a bus driver at First
One aspect of the job that some might find difficult is the shift work. During the first few weeks some new recruits say they feel a bit "jet lagged" but it doesn't take long to adjust.
So what are the hours and shifts like? You need to have a flexible attitude towards a varied work pattern of shift work and weekends over a 38-hour period.
One of the benefits of the job is its flexibility in terms of working hours. Part time work is also available.
