Aberdeen bus drivers do something funny for money
A red nose is usually a sign of a cold or flu " but for First bus drivers in Aberdeen this week, it will mean that they are doing something funny for money and helping a very worthy cause.
7,000 First bus drivers across the UK " including the 400-plus drivers from First in Aberdeen " will be supporting Comic Relief by wearing red noses on Red Nose Day, Friday (13 March).
This is just one of a number of fundraising activities going on in Firsts bus operating companies throughout the UK in support of the event. Every penny raised will go to Comic Relief to help transform lives across Africa and the UK.
Managing Director of First in Aberdeen, George Mair, said: "First has a long-standing tradition of supporting terrific fundraising events like this and Comic Relief allows us to have a bit of fun, with our drivers wearing red noses while helping raise monies for a very worthwhile cause.
"This way we can show our passengers that we are supporting Red Nose Day and getting into the spirit of things by doing something funny for money, which is this years Comic Relief theme.'
To help Aberdeen drivers get in the mood for Red Nose Day, yellow school bus driver Ian Pollok and pupils from the junior school at Robert Gordons College in the city showed how easy it is to do something funny for money by trying out the red noses down at the beachfront in Aberdeen.
Head of College, Hugh Ouston, said: "Its great that First is showing its support for Comic Relief in this way and the Robert Gordons pupils certainly had lots of fun wearing the red noses!'
