Strike action called off as pay deal agreed

As you will be aware, First in Aberdeen and Unite the Union have reached agreement regarding a two-year pay deal, which was overwhelmingly accepted by drivers at the start of the week.

This agreement brings to an end the disruption to our services that began on Thursday 16 July and full service timetables will be resumed from tomorrow (Thursday 10th September 2009).

This has been a challenging time for everyone involved but especially for you - our passengers - and I would like to thank you for the patience, loyalty and support you have shown First throughout this period.

The security of jobs and maintenance of quality bus services has been at the forefront of our negotiations throughout this period and, with the deal agreed, we have achieved that for Aberdeen.

Crucially, we have agreed a deal not only for this year, but also for 2010/11 providing staff and passengers with peace of mind. We will now continue to work on resuming normal operations as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your co-operation and I hope you continue to travel with First.
