First’s anti-vandalism bus “The Deck”, is a joint initiative between First, Strathclyde Police, Glasgow City Council’s Glasgow Kidz and Glasgow Young Scot Card. The aim of this initiative is to educate young people throughout Greater Glasgow about the dangers of bus crime and vandalism.

“The Deck” is a fully converted double decker bus fitted with the latest gadgets to make the learning experience as fun and interesting as possible. The lower deck is fitted with tables and chairs for young people to play games, listen to music and chat with friends. Playstation 2 consoles are also fitted and the upper saloon is designed in the style of a cinema, with a wide screen TV fitted to the back wall to allow educational DVDs and the latest box office hits to be viewed.

The innovative and flexible learning resource allows a multitude of educational bodies to deliver the anti-vandalism message to young people in a fun and interesting way. An anti-vandalism DVD, “Out of Service”, has been produced which is used as an additional learning resource.
