First in Glasgow Reviews Fares

Bus operator, First in Glasgow, is reviewing bus fares across its network in Greater Glasgow at the end of this month. As part of this review, single, multiple journey and season ticket fares will be revised from Sunday 29 March.

Child fares including our popular Child FirstDay fares will remain unchanged - as will adult single fares on our exciting overnight services operating across Glasgow and Hamilton. And, in direct response to customer demand, a brand new Child FirstWeek ticket will also be introduced.

Adult single fares will rise between 5 and 25 pence, with the smallest increases applying to the shortest journeys. The unlimited travel FirstDay ticket will be available from drivers at £3.50 - continuing to offer a great value for money option for those who want to 'hop on and off' buses all day at will.

The cost of unlimited travel season tickets remain exceptional value for money with a one zone annual FirstCard giving unlimited travel for just over £1.00 per day.

Alex Shearer, Executive Director for First in Glasgow, said: "We aim to provide progressively improving high-quality bus services across Greater Glasgow at reasonable fares. While we regret that rising costs (including rising labour and congestion costs) have led us to effect a fare increase, the company continues to invest in state-of-the art environmentally-friendly vehicles, is passionate about customer service and has successfully contained fare rises over the years by means of management actions aimed at ensuring the highest levels of efficiency and effectiveness."

Continuing, Mr Shearer said: "These fare adjustments, coupled with our continued passenger growth, will serve to secure the future stability, sustainability and development of Firsts comprehensive bus network in Greater Glasgow and the surrounding areas in the interests of passengers and the wider public at large."
