First in Glasgow named 'Public Transport Operator of the Year 2009'
Glasgow's biggest bus operator, First in Glasgow, was named 'Public Transport Operator of the Year 2009' at last night's prestigious Scottish Transport Awards held in Glasgow. This award is the most coveted of the evening and was highly sought after, with five shortlisted entries.
The awards are designed to recognise and reward excellence and good practice across Scotland in a wide range of disciplines associated with the operation, design and promotion of public transport.
In winning the award, First in Glasgow was recognised for its wide-reaching approach to change and improvement which has led to increase in passenger numbers. In particular, the award recognised First's commitment to improving customer service, punctuality of services, employee development and in reducing its impact on the environment.
First's success in winning the award comes in the same year as Managing Director of First in Glasgow, Mark Savelli, was named Passenger Transport Professional of the Year at the Passenger Transport Management Awards in June and is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the whole team across the Company.
Mr Savelli said: "Winning an award of this magnitude is a fantastic honour and we are very pleased to have been recognised in this way."
