DEANE LEAVES THE CAR BEHIND TO HOP ON BOARD WINNING BUS NO. 44

(L-R) First’s Network Planning Manager Chris Carberry with the Route 44 winner Dean Anderson pictured here in front of one of First's Enviro 500 buses.

The forecast on First's route 44 was perfect when bus passenger Deane Anderson won a three course meal for two after sharing his route 44 experiences with Glasgow's biggest bus operator. Deane's now looking forward to dining out at the Malmaison in Glasgow's city centre courtesy of First.

Following the launch of First's new Enviro 500 buses, the transport giant invited comments from its customers on what they thought of the new climate-controlled Enviro 500 buses, which have lower CO2 emissions. The state-of-the-art buses were introduced into First's expanding fleet in July this year and have proved a big hit with customers who commute to work in the city centre and visit friends on the other side of the city.

Service 44 operates up to every 10 minutes or better and runs between Eaglesham/Newton Mearns and Knightswood via the city centre and Glasgows west end, which is also convenient for the many students who use the bus to get to college and university.

Deane travels daily on the 44 and is impressed with the reliability of the service, the professionalism of the drivers and the modern, comfortable buses. Deane said: "I live in Eaglesham and have used the 44 bus daily since January 2005. Parking in the city centre and the journey back home was getting worse each year so I decided to switch to bus. I have a friend in Hyndland and it's handy that the 44 travels there from the southside so I dont need to catch another bus."

Chris Carberry, First's Network Planning Manager said: "We're delighted that Deane is impressed with route 44, it is a popular service with many of our customers and this year we have made a considerable investment in upgrading our fleet with new Enviro 500 buses which deliver a more enjoyable passenger experience and are kinder to the environment."

First's usual money saving tickets can be purchased on board from the bus driver and FirstCard is accepted on the route. The FirstCard range of loyalty tickets is available from SPT Travel Centres and other selected outlets. A full list of FirstCard agents is available in the Tickets/Fares section of this website.
