Young Persons
If you're a young person living in South Yorkshire, you'll be pleased to know that travelling around by bus is fantastic value.
Under 5's
Children under the age of 5 travel for free on First buses. Many of our buses are now low-floor giving mums and dads easy access when boarding with prams and pushchairs.
School Children
Up to the age of 11 you can make any journey in South Yorkshire for just 70p, but as soon as you reach your 11th birthday, you'll need to obtain a MegaTravel pass which will last you until you leave school at 16. This pass entitles you to travel for the concessionary fare of 70p per journey in South Yorkshire. 16-18 Student Passes
If you live in South Yorkshire, are aged 16 to 18 and are in full-time education, you qualify for a Student Pass which will allow you to travel for the concessionary fare of 70p per journey on First buses in South Yorkshire.

No Pass? Then required to pay the full adult single fare for the journey
In September 2003, South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive launched a campaign to ensure that all 11-18 year olds show a correct and valid travel pass when travelling for the 70p concessionary fare. Without a pass, you will not be entitled to the concessionary fare and will be required to pay full fare.
Mi-Card
Within the Barnsley area, children aged from 5 years upwards are entitled to a 30p single ticket on any journeys wholly within, or starting and finishing within the Barnsley MBC area. This applies between 9am and 9pm Monday to Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays. Anyone unable to provide a valid Mi-Card pass will be charged 70p (up to 11 years) or full adult fare (above 11 years). Holders of Mi-Card must pay full adult fares before 9am and after 9pm Monday to Friday. Holders of Mi-Card MegaTravel cards are entitled to a 70p child fare before 9am and after 9pm Monday to Friday and for any other journey within South Yorkshire that qualifies under the child travel agreement.
