Improvements to Heathrow services
Heathrow has undergone a major transformation and First’s bus and coach services need to adapt to ensure they provide you, our customers, with services that meet your requirements.
From 22nd March 2008 a number of important changes took place to some of our services. Terminal 5 is an important destination for many of our passengers so some services have been adjusted to serve the new terminal. Below are brief details of the changes but please click on the timetable section to download PDF timetables showing full details of each affected route. A PDF map showing the bus services is also available in the map section.
- Route 77 from Windsor and Slough terminates at Terminal 5 instead of Central Bus Station. New route 78 has replaced the 5 between Britwell and Langley and then continues to Terminal 5 via Axis Park. Routes 77 and 78 provide 4 buses per hour between Slough and Terminal 5 during the daytime, with a half-hourly service during evenings and on Sundays.
- From Terminal 5 customers can access other parts of the airport (including all other terminals and the Cargo Centre) by using the frequent free bus and rail links.
- Routes 75 and 76 continue to operate to Central Bus Station and an extra bus on these services throughout the day will improve reliability on these busy routes. The combination of routes 75, 76, 77 and 78 mean a total of 8 buses per hour between Slough and Heathrow during the daytime on Mondays to Saturdays.
- New route 71 replaces routes 41 and 43 between Slough and Staines. All buses then continue to Terminal 5, with a journey time from Staines of about 10-15 minutes. New earlier and later journeys operate and a full Sunday service has been introduced.
- Route 60 (and 61) has been revised to operate to and from Terminal 5 via Poyle and Colnbrook. The route has also been extended from Slough to Eton Wick, replacing route 64. Earlier and later buses operate, with a brand new Sunday service.
- All coaches on RailAir (Reading - Heathrow) call at Terminal 5 on the way to and from the Central Area and an extra coach is used throughout the day to ensure reliability is maintained. Visit www.railair.com for additional information.
Extra Mercedes Benz buses are on order to provide the new and improved services on routes 71, 75, 76 and 78 and these are being incorporated into the ‘7-series’ brand.
