Richard Wright wins montly Supersar award for Essex

A driver known to his friends and passengers as "Dunmow Dick" has been named as Superstar of the month for November.

Richard Wright was nominated by customer John Mecoy for going beyond the call of duty. Mr Mecoy described how "Dick" had gone out of his way to ensure that he caught the bus. He went on to commend Dick for "his courtesy in dealing with reclaritant customers".

Dick was described by his colleagues as easy going and as one of a kind, who rather than confront or argue with difficult customers, often finds a quiet way to calm a situation.

In presenting the award, MD Bob Dorr said it was the drivers like Dunmow Dick who were a credit to First's reputation.

He said: "You can have the newest fleet of buses in the world, but it is the people behind the steering wheel that make all of the difference."

Although they had not met before, Bob said that Dick's reputation preceded him, and it was a pleasure to award him as a Superstar.

Richard wins £100 in Argos shopping vouchers, and will be entered into the prize draw to win an exclusive prize as Essex's annual local Superstar. He also qualifies for the National Final -- for the chance to win a 5 star holiday, and spending money to the value of £5,000.
