First has an off-peak pricing policy, like many public transport operators, which makes travel cheaper at off peak times:

Peak – before 9 am Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays)

Off-peak – any other time i.e. after 9 am Monday to Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays.

To qualify for a child fare, you must be under 16 years of age. An adult fare should be paid from your sixteenth birthday onwards.

Children under the age of 5 can travel free on First services when accompanied by a fare-paying adult.
