Services 8 & 9 - Results of Public Consultation
We have now carefully looked at all the comments and have decided to make some changes as a direct result of your feedback but also go ahead with some of our original proposals.
More buses
- Most people welcomed the proposed changes, particularly more buses in Redland and better service on Sundays, but some customers were concerned about the reduction in frequency for Clifton. We’ve re-thought our proposals and decided to add extra buses so that there will be no change (from present) for Clifton and buses every 5 minutes from Temple Meads. The frequency of buses in the evenings will not be changing.

NB - As this is a circular route, customers may also use non-direct services to reach Redland or Clifton.
Change of Route from Redland Park/Clyde Road to Redland Road/Redland Hill/Blackboy Hill
- We received more positive comments about our proposed alteration in route than those opposed to it, and we have decided to go ahead with the change. However, we have allowed extra time to travel along Redland Hill as some people felt that congestion might cause delays. We will carefully monitor this and may add more time in future if this is the case. The routes of these services will not be changing elsewhere.
Replacement of 8A and 9A
- Virtually all the feedback we had agreed that these should be withdrawn and replaced with extra journeys on services 8 and 9.
Plus: The last bus that leaves Temple Meads at 2330 will continue to Blackboy Hill rather than finishing at Clifton Down as a direct result of your feedback.
The Benefits
- Increased frequency between Temple Meads and the Triangle - buses will now run evenly up to every 5 minutes. This means that there should be a bus waiting at Temple Meads for customers almost all of the time on Mon - Sat daytimes
- Increased frequency for Redland - 3 more buses per hour than at present
- No change to frequency for Clifton
- Increase in frequency on Sundays
- Earlier journeys on Sundays with the first bus more than an hour earlier
- Simpler and more consistent timetables - no more A’s and B’s - It will be just the 8 or 9
- New service for part of Redland with direct links to Temple Meads
New timetables will be available approximately 2 weeks before.
First wishes to thank everybody who took the time to write or email us with comments. We appreciate your feedback.
