Bristol, Bath and the West

Proposed Major Changes
to Bus Services
• Yate, Chipping Sodbury, Winterbourne and Coalpit Heath area
• North and East Bristol
First is reviewing bus services in these areas and proposes making some changes to the local bus network. We have drawn up a set of proposals which we have discussed with local authorities and TravelWatch South West. Now we want to hear what you think.
Why are the changes necessary?
First is always looking at the bus services we run to make sure they meet the needs of our customers.
Running a safe, reliable and punctual bus service is what we have to do. We accept that traffic congestion, difficulties in finding enough people who want to be bus drivers and complex bus networks has meant that our service delivery has not met your expectations.
We are working hard to make sure we use our buses and drivers where they are most needed. In some areas the number of people using our buses is very low and in order to be efficient, minimize our impact on the environment and secure the best overall service, we need to review the bus network.
We have carefully drawn up these proposals for new bus services in the Yate, Chipping Sodbury, Winterbourne and Coalpit Heath areas and North and East Bristol, which we believe will provide a viable and reliable bus service for the area for the longer term.
We always listen to your feedback and make changes if we can – for example, we propose to keep Service X62 in North East Bristol as many people requested this in September 2007.
