First delivers tourism boost Out & About to Somerset

First is offering a helping hand to thousands of Somersets tourists who may be unaware of some of the fantastic local attractions in the region that are easily accessible by bus. Firsts ‘Get out & About Campaign covers Yeovil, Taunton, Bridgwater, Wells, Glastonbury and Street. The leaflets are being delivered straight to peoples homes and First has done all the research to make life that little bit easier.

The Out and About leaflet has been distributed to 100,000 homes giving suggestions to help the people of Somerset explore their local area this Summer and discover some of the regions hidden jewels. First also believes this will give an added boost to tourist attraction and owners in the region in what has do far been wet and grey this summer.

Firsts Somerset and Avons Operations Director Jenny Macleod. ‘We ran a similar ‘Get Out and About campaign last year and it proved to be really successful, our customers found the information really useful and discovered places they never thought existed. This year we have updated the information and I am really excited that we can give people great ideas about events and stunning locations which are all accessible by the bus service(s) .

Passengers are encouraged to soak up some sun at one of the sandy beaches on the South Coast, take in the splendors of Hestercombe Gardens across the vale of Taunton or explore the history of Wells and Glastonbury by bus. Special events include the River Festival (22-23 September), The George Outdoor Festival (3-4 September) or one of the many farmers and country markets taking place every week. The Burnham-on-Sea Folk Festival (31 August " 2 September) or Frome Carnival (22 September) are also big crowd pleasers on offer in the region.

FirstDay South West tickets offer a days unlimited travel across the entire South West for just £6.20 for adults (£7 during peak times), and £5.20 for children. FirstDay tickets can also be purchased for a days unlimited travel around your local town.

If your home does not receive ‘Out and About, leaflets are also available from the bus stations at Wells, Taunton, Yeovil and Bridgwater.
