First shares ideas with disabled people about access on the buses.

First Somerset & Avon is providing a bus for a disabled forum at Chippenham bus station today as representatives from First and local disabled people share ideas and experiences. Disabled people will see how a First bus can make it easier for disabled people to travel on public transport.

First is providing a Volvo B7 type single deck low-floor vehicle with a wheelchair ramp and our staff will be on hand to help people on and off the bus and discuss different scenarios as they arise.

Rachael Hicks PR Co- Ordinator said ‘ First is keen to hear about disabled peoples experiences first-hand and this can only be of benefit to our drivers. We provide them with information and guidelines relating to the Disability Discrimination Act but there is nothing like learning about real situations from the people who use our services.

The event has been organised by the Leonard Cheshire Disability Team for a transport survey and residents, staff and volunteers from Greathouse residential service in Kington Langley will be there on the day to help out.
