FREE Broadmead Park & Ride" A Gift to Shoppers

A free Park and Ride service to help ease congestion during the busy festive season was launched to shoppers on Friday 2nd November at the Podium in Broadmead.

Funded by developers the Bristol Alliance, in partnership with Bristol City Council and First, the new service will run every 15 minutes from Frenchay to Broadmead on Saturdays in November and December.
Broadmead, the University of the West of England and South Gloucestershire Council, has also backed this service.

The scheme was initially developed in 2005 to ensure that Broadmead remains accessible to Christmas shoppers during the construction of Cabot Circus, which is due for completion in autumn 2008. It will be free of charge for the first time this year to encourage local people to visit Broadmead and take advantage of the variety of shops on offer.

Bristol Alliance Property Director, Steve Wehrle, commented: "We are committed to ensuring that Broadmead remains accessible during the construction of Cabot Circus. The Park & Ride scheme has proved a great success in previous years and we hope that even more shoppers will take advantage of the free service this Christmas.'

Councillor Mark Bradshaw, Bristols Executive Member for Transport, said: "Now in its third year, the Park and Ride service will help to ease congestion during the Christmas rush and will ensure that travelling to Broadmead remains a stress-free option for Bristols shoppers. It is an excellent example of partnership working and will be of great benefit to all those visiting the centre during this busy time.'

The free Broadmead Park & Ride will run from Saturday 3 November until Saturday 29 December. The first service will leave UWE at 7:45am and buses will run every 15 minutes throughout the day with the last bus departing Broadmead at 6:45pm.
