New Low Floor Buses for Taunton
From 28th November Somerset County Council and First are increasing the number of low floor buses in Somerset. To aid shoppers, and passengers with difficulty in boarding the buses, brand new low-floor accessible vehicles will be operating on Services 1 and 1A between Priorswood and Blackbrook, in Taunton. The new vehicles are equipped with low emission Euro 4 engines.
The existing low floor buses on the 1 and 1A routes are moving to Service 4 (Lane Estate to Galmington). Service 2 (Town Centre to Priorswood) has also received low floor buses.
Cllr Tony Shire, Somerset County Councils Portfolio Holder for Highways said, "We are committed to ensuring a good public transport system is in place in Somerset. We are working in close partnership with First to try and improve the quality and accessibility of local bus services across the county."
Justin Davies, Managing Director of First Bristol, Somerset and Avon, said, "We are delighted to be working in partnership with Somerset County Council to provide these brand new buses. This part of our commitment to improving the quality of services throughout the region. The buses are bright, comfortable and accessible and we hope customers will enjoy using them."
