Service Changes to Bristol city services from 29 November

Over recent months the changes in the wider economy have meant that peoples travel patterns have changed. To reflect this and better match our resources to current demand, were making some changes to local bus services from 29 November.

In some areas, this will mean better frequencies, simplified routes and extra places served by bus, notably new links to Temple Meads Rail Station.

Service 6 & 7 - Centre - Staple Hill/ Kingswood / Longwell Green:

The timetable is changing to improve punctuality and on Saturday daytimes, the frequency of buses between Kingswood and Longwell Green on Service 6 will be reduced from every 30 minutes to every 60 minutes.

Service 20 & 21 - Southmead - Rookery Farm:

This service is being simplified with changes to the route including a new link to Temple Meads Rail Station. The overall frequency will remain the same, but a couple of peak journeys will no longer run.

On the north of the route, all buses will be diverted to follow the existing service 20 route through Bishopston/Redland. This will be Cranbrook Road, Clare Avenue, Kings Drive, Bishop Road and then Kellaway Avenue. All buses will be numbered as Service 20 in future.

This means that the section of route marked in red on the map (please click on link below to open) will no longer be served.

In addition, peak journeys that currently serve Filton West works will start and finish from 29 November at Charlton Road, Southmead. The alternative bus stop is just the other side of the works gates.

On the south of the route between the Centre and Totterdown, buses will be diverted to create a new link to Temple Meads Rail Station.

Buses will travel along Redcliffe Way, Temple Gate (for Temple Meads), Bath Road, Wells Road before joining the normal route in St John's Lane. This will enable buses to benefit from the bus lane on Redcliffe Way and avoid congestion on York Road.

Service 36 Centre - Withywood:

The timetable of this service is changing to improve punctuality. From 29 November, it will serve Tesco and Callington Road Hospital in Brislington and Imperial Park in Hartcliffe.

We are also simplifying the timetable to reduce the number of confusing journeys that stop short of Withywood, or start half way along the route:

· All daytime journeys will travel between the Centre and Withywood

· 2 early morning journeys that currently start from Barton Hill, will now start nearby at Queen Anne Road

· The morning journeys from Eagle Road, Bath Road at 0731, 0743 and 0819 will no longer run.

Service 40, 40A, 41, 43, 44, 44A, 45 - Cribbs - Causeway - Centre, Avonmouth -North Common, Cadbury Heath - Centre:

The timetables at peak times are changing to ensure that buses are more evenly spaced with some journeys no longer running.

Service 50/51 Centre - Rookery Farm:

The timetable is changing to improve punctuality with up to 5 minutes faster journeys in the evenings.

Service 52 - Broadmead - Hengrove:

There are some minor changes to departure times to allow us to run services as efficiently as possible. There will be two additional journeys, one leaving Broadmead at 0955 and another leaving Hengrove on Saturdays only at 0937.

Service 70 - UWE - Centre:

The frequency of journeys at off peak times is increasing from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes.

Currently evening journeys on this service serve Temple Meads Rail Station on Sundays. This is being extended so that evening journeys on Monday to Saturday will also run to and from the forecourt at Temple Meads.

There will also be later last buses in both directions on Monday - Saturday. This will be 20 minutes later from the Centre towards UWE.

Service 90 - Broadmead - Hengrove:

There are several improvements to this service:

· The frequency at peak times will be increased to meet customer demand from every 12 minutes to every 10 minutes. This applies to buses from Hengrove in the morning, and from Broadmead in the afternoon.

· There will be an extra last bus on Monday - Saturday evenings. This will be 20 minutes later than at present, leaving Broadmead at 2320.

· Buses will now call at Imperial Park in Hartcliffe.

· On Sundays, journeys that currently terminate at Inns Court Green will be extended to serve Imperial Park, Hengrove Leisure Park before finishing at the Hengrove Depot.

· The overall timetable is also changing to improve punctuality.

All changes are Monday to Friday unless stated.
Timetables will be available approximately 2 weeks before the change.
