Service Changes
Service changes in Weston-super-Mare and North Somerset from 29 November 2009
Over recent months the changes in the wider economy have meant that the number of people travelling has reduced. To reflect this and better match our resources to current demand, were making some changes to local bus services from 29 November.
Weve aimed to minimise the impact of these changes on customers by where possible, concentrating on individual journeys where there are easily accessible alternative options. However, several services will see a slight decrease in overall frequency or route changes to reflect the fall in demand.
Weston Town services
Service 1 - Railway Station - Sand Bay:
This service will not run on Sundays during the Winter season from 29 November, resuming on Sunday 28 March 2010. Services on Monday - Saturday will run as normal.
Service 3 - Worle - Searle Crescent:
The frequency of buses on Monday to Saturday will be changed to run from every 15 minutes to every 20 minutes. This service will shortly benefit from easy access low floor buses due to be introduced in early 2010.
Service 5 - Worle - Uphill:
The frequency of buses on Saturdays will be changed to run from every 20 minutes to every 30 minutes.
Service 8 - Weston College - Cleeve:
The journey leaving Weston College at 1710 (Mondays to Fridays during college terms) to Cleeve will no longer run. Other services are being extended to offer alternatives:
· Students wishing to travel to North Worle, can catch Service 7 or Service X23 - The journey leaving Weston College at 1710 will be diverted to serve North Worle instead of Locking Road.
· Students wishing to travel to Congresbury and Cleeve, can catch Service 353 at 1707, this is being extended to serve Weston College.
Service 14 - Regent Street - Worle:
On Monday to Saturdays, the route of this service will change to run directly through Old Mill Way, rather than the loop via Worle Moor Road, Griffen Road and Vale Mill Way due to overall low customer use. It is a short walk to stops on Old Mill Way.
Service 126 - Weston - Wells:
Two journeys on this service will be changing to improve connections in Wells for onward travel on Service 173 to Strode College. The college journey leaving Westbury Post Office at 0807 will leave 2 minutes earlier at 0805, and the journey leaving Weston Railway Station at 0702 will leave 5 minutes earlier at 0657.
Service 351 - Weston - Bristol (Via North Worle and Claverham):
This service which operated three morning and three afternoon peak journeys will no longer run due to low customer use.
Customers in North Worle wishing to travel to Bristol should catch Service 7 to Sainsburys, and then catch services 353 or X1 at Homebase.
Service 352 - Weston - Bristol (Via Claverham and Long Ashton):
On Mondays to Saturdays, the route of this service will change to serve Long Ashton by-pass instead of Long Ashton Village. This will give faster journey times for customers living in Claverham. Long Ashton village will continue to be served by service 353 (evenings and Sundays),354,362 and 363. The majority of departures from Bristol Bus Station will leave 20 minutes earlier.
Service 353 and Service X1 - Weston - Bristol:
Due to low customer demand, a number of journeys will no longer run. These are journeys leaving Weston at 0520 and 1715 (Mon-Fri), 2040 and 2155 (Sundays), leaving Bristol Bus Station at 0755, 0830 (Mon- Fri) and 2150 and 2300 (Sundays) and one journey leaving Cleeve at 0718. To ensure that there is an even frequency of buses on both services, the times of other journeys are also changing.
In addition, one journey on Service 353 is being extended to serve Weston College (see Service 8)
Service X23 - Nailsea - Weston College:
One journey is being rerouted to serve North Worle to partially replace a journey on Service 8 (see Service 8) and the journey currently leaving Nailsea at 1818 will leave later at 1826.
