Bristol's new Showcase bus route. Let's get Bristol Moving!
Bristol's new Showcase bus route was officially launched on December 4.
First has worked in partnership with Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council to bring a host of improvements for customers living along the A420 and A431 including:
- 42 state-of-the-art new buses
- CCTV on buses and in shelters
- New bus shelters with Real Time Passenger Information to let customers know when the bus will arrive
- Bus lanes to give priority to buses
- Traffic signals that change to green if a bus is running late
The new buses represent a £7.1million investment by First in the city of Bristol.
All of the new buses have:
- Low floors - making the route more accessible for wheelchair users and parents with buggies or pushchairs
- Improved and more comfortable seating with a designated wheelchair/buggy space – providing customers with a better travelling environment
- The most up-to-date Euro 4 engines – to improve local air quality
- Digital CCTV – for improved customer security and safety
- New satellite tracking units – enabling Real Time Passenger Information to be displayed at bus stops along the route
